Demonstration of craft
Folk artists Agata Granicka (weave of palms), Marija Banikoniene (variegation of eggs), professional textile worker Ryte Jukaviciute (weave of strips, gardens) demonstrate crafts.
Educational programme
For adults and children: when it is agreed in advance, artists teach for free how to weave palms, variegate eggs, do gardens, weave strips. If schoolchild wants to participate in making process, he has to have his own materials (for example, he has to have eggs prepared to variegation) or he has to pay for it. Everything what he created, he can bring along.
History and presentation of activity
Weave of palms is original craft of Vilnius region, and this craft has no analogues in the whole world. Variegation of eggs using vax is a traditional Lithuanian decoration art of Easter eggs. Strawy gardens is a vanishing decoration art of Lithuanian country house.
"Sauluva" is one of the oldest galleries of folk art in Vilnius, it is established in 1991 in Vilnius and it upholds traditional crafts of Lithuania and Vilnius region till nowadays. Professionals of the highest level demonstrate making process and teach all the people who want to learn these crafts.
